The department of Kannada, JSS College for women, chamarajanagara, has a history of 42 years. Founded in the year 1967, the department has been over the years maturated and expanded by competent heads of the department.

  • Most of the Kannada professors who have worked in this college, have contributed a lot to the field of literature culture.
  • Well known story writer professor A.S Jayaram is a well known critic. He has published a book named as "Swagatha prakasha" containing critical articles on literature.
  • Well known story writer K Veerabhadra has published a few story books in Kannada. He has translated some Bengali novels to Kannada.
  • Malayuru Guruswamy is a very popular teacher, novelist and orator, who has served as the head of the department of Kannada.
