The Department of Chemistry was established in the year 1967. The department aims at educating students on various areas of theoretical and practical aspects of chemistry, such that employment in the industries is possible.
Students are also encouraged to pursue further studies or head for research for the betterment of the community.
From the beginning, the Department has been served by a band of dedicated teachers, who were imbued with the ideals of this institution by giving the students an education which will help them to develop an integrated personality with sound mind and body.
Chemistry is one of the major subject and is sought by many students.
The department offers B.Sc chemistry programme of six semesters (3 years).
The students can choose Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics combination (PCM) or Chemistry, Botany and Zoology combination (CBZ).
After the introduction of CBCS-Scheme, skill enhancement course is introduced in the form of applied chemistry. Students will study basic analytical chemistry and fuel chemistry in fifth semester and polymer chemistry and chemical technology, pesticide chemistry and society, in sixth semester under skill enhancement course.
The department organizes special lectures, seminars on current scientific developments.
