JSS Women College has started in the academic year 2000 – 2001 with the motto of providing education to students of rural background. At present it has more than 900 students. Being one of the prestigious colleges of the district providing quality Education College has taken necessary measures for the safety and protection of girl students. Anti-ragging & Anti-women harassment cell is being existed since 2009 in the college as per the UGC guidelines. On 10/02/2011 according to the Supreme court writ petition No – 666- 70/1992, dated 13/08/1997 judgment, collegiate department commissioner ordered all the  colleges to establish the ‘Sexual harassment protection cell’. Accordingly the committee was formed comprising Principal, Police, and Advocate, warden, Teaching, Non-teaching faculty and also Students representatives. In order to educate and bring awareness about sexual harassment among the students and working women, the committee decided to organize special lectures and competitions for the students. According to UGC circular, short films are downloaded from the UGC website and shown to the students. To create awareness among students, pamphlets and wall papers etc are displayed in various prime location of the college. All takes the initiatives in organizing special lecture program poster presentation events and skit competition to create awareness among the students. Students are encouraged to discuss their problems and find solutions under this cell .

> Organizing Lectures on various issues on gender discrimination by scholars.
> Arranging many more competitions regarding the subject.
> Concentration on Mentor system to give the personal attention.
> Awareness about Women Empowerment.
> Awareness about legal protection.
> Help students to be confident in their life to face various kinds of problems.

What constitutes as Ragging?
> Causing, inducing, compelling or forcing a student, whether by way of a practical joke or
    otherwise, to do any act which detracts from human dignity or violates their dignity;
> Exposes the individual to ridicule;
> Compels the individual to forbear from doing any lawful act by:
> Intimidating, wrongful restraint, wrongful confinement, or injuring the individual by
    using criminal force;
> Threat of intimidation, wrongful restraint, wrongful confinement, injury, or the use of
    criminal force.

Rules & Regulations
Rules & Regulations As per the order of Supreme Court of India and subsequent notification from
University Grants Commission (UGC), ragging constitutes one or more of any intention by any student or
group of students on:
> Any act of indiscipline, teasing or handling with rudeness.
> Any act that prevents disrupts the regular academic activity.
> Any activity which is likely to cause annoyance, hardship, psychological harm or creates
    fear or apprehension.
> Any act of financial extortion or forceful expenditure.
> Any act of physical abuse causing assault, harm or danger to health.
> Any act of abuse by spoken words, emails, SMS or public insult etc.
> Any act of injury or infringement of the fundamental right to human dignity.
> Any act of wrongful confinement, kidnapping, molesting or committing unnatural
    offences, use of criminal forces, trespass or intimidation.
