The Department of English has an illustrious record of being one of the pioneer faculties of the college. Learned teachers with holistic attitude meticulously nurtured the Department right from its nascent stage. Professor Chandrashekaraiah was the First Head of the Department Under his astute leadership and guidance the Department made rapid strides and developed into a full fledged faculty in the college. Himself a creative writer, Prof. Chandrashekaraiah groomed the department and gave it a goal and a vision. The department solemnly remembers the invaluable services rendered by him. Over the years the Department was fortunate to have the services of many devoted teachers. All these teachers have enriched the department with total commitment to their profession.

ENABLING STUDENTS TO BECOME PROFICIENT IN ENGLISH –THE EMERGING GLOBAL LANGUAGE

• Classroom teaching is more language oriented than literature oriented.
• English Grammar Coaching classes and communicative English classes are conducted on regular basis to improve the language skills of the students.
