Sociology

History

• The department of Sociology was established in the year 1971 with Prof. S. Subbashetty as the HOD of Sociology. The subject was introduced with following objectives.
• To create awareness about the social problems among students and through them among the rural illiterates.
• To enable particularly girl students of rural areas to know their fundamental rights and responsibilities in male dominated society.

VISION

• Empowerment of women, creation of awareness in them and promotion of their welfare in the wake of globalization.

MISSOION

• To enrich the general knowledge of women in different areas of society such as Social problems, Social welfare, Race and minorities relations, Caste co ordination etc.
• To develop the ability of independent thinking and understanding of social responsibilities in women.
