About the department:

Chemistry is one of the important department in the faculty of science was established in 1967. The department has been providing the need based quality education to the students.over the last 55 years, the department has built up its reputation as one among the best. At present the department has experienced and dedicated faculty to mentor and guide the students.

The syllabus offered at undergraduate level is aimed at providing a strong foundation of the subject and make them proficient in both theory and practicals.The college central library consists of 1895 chemistry books with titles 651, e-journals and INFLIBNET services. The department has three well equipped laboratories to cater the needs of the students.

Chalk and talk teaching is the primary mode of teaching, in addition to this charts models,videos and power point presentations are also used as teaching aids.students are encouraged to develop the habit of self study and use of the library for reference work. The department organizes special lectures by inviting eminent scholars. Students are encouraged to participate in workshops, seminars and exhibitions conducted by reputed organizations. Industrial visit helps to motivate students to brush up their knowledge and to pursue higher education

The department has an MOU with “central institute of plastic engineering and technology” (CIPET) Mysuru for faculty exchange program and to perform internship and projects. In order to promote and encourage the students to excel in their studies cash prizes have been awarded to the meritorious students.
